Weddings are messy, brilliant, emotional things. That's exactly why I love photographing them.

I’m Pete, a Peak District wedding photographer and filmmaker, and I’m interested in everything that happens when nobody’s looking at the camera, the nervous laugh before the ceremony, your mates absolutely losing it on the dance floor, your dad trying not to cry, muddy shoes, badly behaved relatives and those five minutes when you finally get to breathe.

I’ll make sure you get the photographs you actually need, but I’m not interested in turning your wedding into a photoshoot.

Instead, I want to be there for the whole bloody thing, quietly when I need to be, right in the middle of it when it matters, and always looking for the moments you didn’t even realise were happening.

Alongside digital photography, I also shoot selected moments on 35mm and medium-format film, because sometimes the slightly imperfect frame is the one you keep coming back to.

I’m a Peak District wedding photographer and filmmaker, working across Derbyshire, the UK and beyond. My photography is documentary-led, relaxed and honest, with just enough direction when you need it. You won't spend hours being lined up and told where to stand. I'll photograph the important stuff properly, obviously, but I'll also be watching everything happening around it. Because when you look back at your wedding photographs in twenty years, I reckon you'll want more than a collection of perfectly posed portraits.

You'll want to remember what it actually felt like to be there.

Photography, film, and a bit of both

I photograph weddings digitally, but I also shoot 35mm and medium-format film on selected weddings. There’s something about film that I love. The grain. The colours. The imperfections. The frames that feel slightly different from everything else. I don't shoot an entire wedding on film just for the sake of saying I do. Instead, I use it where it adds something — alongside the digital photographs and wedding film, creating a collection that feels varied, personal and genuinely yours.

UK & Destination Weddings

I’m based in the Peak District and photograph weddings throughout Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Cheshire, Manchester and across the UK, as well as destination weddings further afield.

Barns in the Peak District. Big old country houses. Windy coastlines. City weddings. Backyard celebrations. Weddings abroad. The location changes. The people don't. Wherever you get married, I'm there to photograph the atmosphere, the people and all the stuff that makes your particular day yours.

What actually happens when you book me?

You don't need to become a professional model. You don't need to know what to do with your hands. And you definitely don't need to spend your wedding day worrying about the camera.

I'll give you direction when it's useful, particularly for group photographs and a few portraits but most of the time I'm letting things happen. I'll be moving around, looking for the little things, anticipating what is about to happen and occasionally getting far too excited about a patch of good light.
