Bryn Gwynant Community Event | Documentary & Event Photography
Yūgen and YHA partnered to host a special community event at Bryn Gwynant, bringing together local supporters, outdoor enthusiasts and advocates as part of a campaign to help prevent the closure of this iconic Snowdonia hostel. Set within Eryri National Park, the event highlighted the importance of accessible outdoor spaces and the role Bryn Gwynant has played in inspiring generations of walkers, climbers and adventurers.
As an event and documentary photographer, my role was to capture the atmosphere, emotion and community spirit throughout the day. Rather than staged imagery, the focus was on authentic storytelling — documenting genuine interactions, speeches, conversations and moments that reflected the passion behind the campaign.
The resulting photography provides a visual record of the event, designed to support awareness campaigns, social media content and future promotional activity. The images help communicate not just what happened on the day, but why Bryn Gwynant matters to the outdoor community and the wider cultural landscape of Wales.
This project demonstrates how documentary event photography and visual storytelling can support campaigns with real-world impact, helping organisations engage audiences, build awareness and preserve important community moments.
